Newsletter #53: Shopify news, drone light shows, and random facts
Hi there,
I hope you're feeling good.
I’m coming back from a few days in the south of France, where we celebrated the 30th birthday of one of my best friends. I had a great time!
We enjoyed the sea, the pool, and many barbecues. We also visited lovely little cities such as Èze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

Blair Beckwith just joined Mantle
Blair Beckwith worked at Shopify as the Head of App Store from 2012 to 2017. He was the first business hire on the Shopify App Store. During 6 years, he worked with thousands of Shopify developers to help them grow their business.
Blair just joined Mantle, a tool dedicated to Shopify app developers that I wrote about in edition 46.
After 2 years working at Tidio, it must be a special feeling for Blair to be back in the Shopify ecosystem and to have the opportunity to work so closely with app developers.

With Canada Day on July 1st, the US Independence Day on July 4th, and soon France’s Bastille Day on July 14th, we’re seeing a lot of fireworks.
As an alternative to fireworks, we’re also observing the emergence of drone light shows, which are displays that are created using drones equipped with LED lights.
These drone light shows have several advantages compared to fireworks.
They are:
Safer, as they don’t involve explosives
Quieter, making them less harmful for the wildlife
More precise, allowing highly detailed choreographies
More environmentally friendly, as they don’t produce any debris or ash
More visible, making them enjoyable from a greater distance
More customizable, allowing organizers to add tailored colors, themes, and storytelling elements
On top of all these advantages, I find drone light shows to be really impressive and beautiful. I hope I’ll get to see more of them in the future.

This week, I spent some time watching documentaries and reading various articles. I really enjoy learning new things, especially very random ones. I feel like it opens doors in my brain.
Here are some random facts that I recently learned:
Scotland’s animal is the unicorn. This mythical creature is seen as a symbol of purity, innocence, and power.
After the US and China, France has the third highest number of millionnaires, with about 2,800,000 millionnaires.
The shortest recorded war in history lasted no longer than 40 minutes. It was the Anglo-Zanzibar war on August 27, 1896.
A group of flamingos is called a flamboyance. This term rightly describes their striking appearance and bright colors.
The narwhal tusk, most commonly found on males, is actually an enlarged tooth.
The CN Tower, which I visited in Toronto, is 553 meters high. It’s much taller than the Eiffel Tower (330 meters) and much smaller than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (880 meters), which is the tallest building in the world.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading this edition until the end.
I'll talk to you soon.
Take good care of yourself.
