Newsletter #40: Editions.dev, Marc Lou, and my own space

Hi there,

I hope you're feeling good.

One of my best friends just travelled from France to spend the weekend with me in London. I had such a nice time with him!

We wandered in Notting Hill, ate at a super cool Thai restaurant in Soho, had fancy cocktails up in the sky at The Shard, and… visited Aston Martin’s car dealership! We tried the DB13, an absolute beast, on sale at the bargain price of £185,000... Fun times!

In today’s edition, we’re discussing Editions.dev, Marc Lou, and my own space.

Let's dive in.

Work

Editions.dev

Shopify recently sent an email communication to some Shopify Partners to invite them to what seems to be a very special event.

This event is called Editions.dev.

According to the email, Editions.dev will be a full-day, in-person event that will take place in Toronto, Canada, on June 25, 2024. The activities will start at 7:00am, finish at 5:00pm, and be followed by a reception at 5:30pm.

If you did not receive an invite, don’t worry: tickets will be available for purchase in early May.

Following 2023 which was a year without any Shopify Unite, it’s great to see Shopify organizing a physical event for the global community. Looking at my Twitter feed, it seems like Shopify developers will be flying to Toronto from all over the world. This is so exciting!

There are so many people in the Shopify ecosystem that I talk to regularly but haven’t had a chance to meet in person. I will be in Toronto for Editions.dev. I look forward to meeting you all!

Inspire

In edition 13, I wrote about my favorite entrepreneur: Pieter Levels.

I discussed not only about his impressive numbers (4 main websites generating a total of $2.4M per year) but also about his inspiring no-bullshit mindset.

Today, I’d like to highlight another entrepreneur who I believe is quite similar to Pieter Levels: Marc Lou, a French solopreneur living in Bali.

Marc has built numerous online products and now generates a revenue of $80,000+ per month. His flagship product, Ship Fast, brings in $75,000 per month.

Similar to Pieter Levels, Marc builds in public and follows a shotgun strategy: shoot many projects and see which ones stick.

I draw a lot of inspiration from his hard work, dedication, and transparency throughout the whole journey.

I’m used to following him on Twitter, but he also has a YouTube channel which he is very active on.

If you’d like to discover his work, I think his video “I built a startup in 31 hours” is the most representative of his mindset.

Explore

In previous editions such as edition 5, I shared with you my passion for interior design and building things with my own hands.

This week, I got to do a bit of both, arranging and decorating my new place.

It’s such a sweet feeling to be able to imagine what I’d like the space to look like, then make it happen step by step.

I purchased my first proper desk chair (hello, Herman Miller), a beautiful dark wood bed with large drawers, a matching bedside table, cosy lamps, fluffy pillows. It’s all starting to fall into place nicely.

I deeply appreciate the privilege of having my own space where I feel comfortable, energized, and inspired.

This week, I spent my evenings reading for hours. I’ll share very soon what I’ve been reading, and what I’m taking away from it.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading this edition until the end.

I'll talk to you soon.

Take good care of yourself.
