Newsletter #32: Ultimate Customer Genderizer, Interactify and the Parisian Agency
Hi there,
I hope you're feeling good.
I've just come back from 4 days in Málaga, Spain, with my family. It was great!
The idea of going there came from my friend Benjamin, a French web developer who owns the YouTube channel "Benjamin Code" (120K+ subscribers). He bought an apartment in Malaga, published a video about it, which I loved, and then sent me tips of things to see in the city. We visited the places he recommended, along with a few others, and had an amazing time.
Icing on the cake: we were in Málaga at the time of the city's carnival. It was a colorful surprise.
In today's edition, we're discussing Ultimate Customer Genderizer, Interactify and the Parisian Agency.
Let's dive in.
Work

It's time to share with you what I've been working on for the past few months: my second Shopify app.
For my first app in 2021, I was in charge of the marketing, app store SEO, and customer support.
For this second app, my goal was to delve into the app development to ensure I fully understood the underlying technology.
I discussed the app idea with my friend Yann, with whom I was in holiday in Nice at the time. Yann is a Ruby on Rails developer who worked at Doctolib for 3 years. He recently quit his job to pursue SaaS projects.
Yann was super interested in building a public Shopify app, so we got to work.
Together we built Ultimate Customer Genderizer. This app determines the gender of your customers, allowing you to create highly precise customer segments directly within your Shopify admin. You can then target them with tailored email marketing campaigns and increase your sales.
Remember in edition 29 when I was presenting how you could make the most of customer segments for your Shopify store? This app helps you do precisely that.
At the moment, we are mainly working with stores that use Shopify Email, as they are the ones leveraging Shopify’s customer segments feature to send their personalized email campaigns.
We learnt that stores using other email service providers, such as Klaviyo, create their customer segments on Klaviyo's side and don't see the value in having them inside their Shopify admin yet.
I'm thrilled about this Shopify app journey because it allowed me to delve into Shopify app development and meet the best business partner ever.

Inspire

Two weeks ago, I had a video call with two American entrepreneurs: Ananth Veluvali and Soham Govande.
Alongside their studies at Stanford University, Ananth and Soham are building Interactify, a tool I'm very interested in.
Interactify brings interactivity to the emails you send to your customers. It turns them into shoppable emails.
Thinking of displaying products inside an email? Your customers will now be able to choose product quantities directly inside the email. Then they will be redirected to the checkout of your Shopify store with these products already in their cart in the chosen quantities.
As a video is worth a thousand words, here is a demo of an interactive email.
Interactify's founders state that setting up the tool takes less than 5 minutes and that it will increase your email flow revenue by 30%. It's an attractive value proposition.
I firmly believe that Interactify is going to shake the Shopify ecosystem. I will closely follow how the tool's ROI evolves for merchants as its adoption increases and email marketing agencies become more accustomed to leveraging its capabilities.
Discover more on Interactify’s landing page and on its listing page on the Shopify app store.

These days, I'm really enjoying a Netflix reality TV show called The Parisian Agency.
It follows the Kretz family, who owns a real estate agency specialized in luxury properties in France.
It's amazing to get behind the closed doors of fantastic houses and apartments that cost several million euros. We discover the history of the property, the materials used during its construction and sometimes the names of famous previous owners. Some of these properties are true hidden gems.
I also find it interesting to learn about the profiles of those looking to acquire such houses. We don't get many details about their backgrounds, but they do share their reasons for buying, as well as their thought processes on choosing the house they'll spend 15 million euros on.
Setting aside the reality TV aspects of the show, such as the Kretz family's minor disputes, which I'm not interested in, The Parisian Agency is a nice entertainment bringing me inspiration for the future.
Enjoy it here on Netflix.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading this edition until the end.
I'll talk to you soon.
Take good care of yourself.
