Newsletter #28: Shopify news, an inspiring documentary and the talented Lala &ce
Hi there,
I hope you're feeling great.
Last week, I worked from Station F with a friend.
Station F is a startup campus in Paris. It was founded by the French entrepreneur Xavier Niel in 2017. It houses many startups, as well as partnerships with major companies such as Facebook and Apple.
Several of my friends, including Shopify app developers, are incubated at Station F. I absolutely love working there with them. We book a conference room and work on our projects together.
The best part? We usually wrap up the day with a delicious plate of truffle pasta at La Felicità, the beautiful Italian restaurant nearby.

In today's edition, we're discussing Shopify news, an inspiring documentary and the talented Lala &ce.
Let's dive in.
Work
Sooo many cool things happened in the Shopify ecosystem recently:
A Shopify app challenge
James Devonport (the founder of the Shopify app UserLoop, which he built with the nocode tool Bubble) started an interesting challenge.
He wants to build a new SaaS with Bubble and bring it from $0 to $1k MRR in 60 days.
He will document his journey in his newsletter NoCodeSaaS.
Learn more about it in this article.
The biggest event of the year is coming
Mark your calendars: Shopify Winter Editions will take place on January 31st at 11:00 am EST.
Shopify Editions is a bi-annual event where Shopify officially presents recent platform updates and unveils new features that were still unknown to the public.
Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a fantastic ride!

A case study of a migration from Magento to Shopify
Do you sometimes read about huge brands moving to Shopify and wish that they explained how this process went for them?
Because I do.
It’s always insightful when an agency publishes a case study about the challenges they faced and how they overcame them.
The Vaan Group, an ecommerce agency based in New-York, recently published a case study on how they performed a migration from Magento to Shopify for Daniels Jewelers, a major brand with over 100 physical locations and their own in-house financing option.
It’s an interesting read.
Discover this case study here.
Shopify and Mirakl have formed a partnership
This partnership will mainly take the form of an official Mirakl app, which will soon be available on the Shopify app store.
Using this app, Shopify’s merchants should be able to expand their reach and sell products on hundreds of Mirakl-powered marketplace platforms.
I’m looking forward to testing this app!

Shopify and X have formed a partnership
As of now, we don’t know much about it. I can't wait for them to announce all the details!

Inspire
In this Inspire section, I usually share inspirations from outside the Shopify world.
I’m making an exception today.
I’d like to share with you this 25-minute documentary about Shopify.
This documentary was presented to investors in May 2015, prior to the company’s IPO.
We discover Shopify’s inception and ambitious vision. Most importantly, we see what it’s like from the merchant’s perspective: how they feel when they make their first sale and how it’s often much more than just a business for them.
These 25 minutes are a shot of inspiration for me.
It’s also a super useful tool: when my friends and family outside of the tech world ask me what Shopify is, I start with sending them this video. And it works perfectly: it all becomes very clear and concrete for them.
Whether you know Shopify very well or are just getting started in the ecosystem, I recommend watching it. You won’t regret it.
Explore
One artist I have been listening to a lot lately is Lala &ce.
Lala &ce is a French 29-year-old rapper living in London. Her style is unique and easily recognizable.
Her music is a mix of various genres, including rap, R&B, and electronic music. I love this fusion and enjoy the melodies she is bringing to the table.
Her voice is soft and melodic. She is known for not articulating her words much and almost whispering sometimes, which creates a dreamy and intimate atmosphere.
My favorite songs from Lala &ce are “Control”, “&irline”, “Fallait dire non”, “Mise à mort” and “Sous tes lèvres”.
To share her music with you, I first wanted to share her live performance for Grünt, which really impressed me.
But I figured it was not her most representative performance. So instead I’m sharing the clip of “Fallait dire non”, which is a masterclass on many levels.
Enjoy.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading this edition until the end.
I'll talk to you soon.
Take good care of yourself.
